Welcome to the Anna Marie Brulotte Memorial website. We are just getting started, so please let us know what you think of our site. You can leave comments on the "contact us" page of this site.
On September 30, 2010, two year old Anna Brulotte was safely crossing the street with her mother and siblings in an active school zone, holding her mother's hand. A car that was stopped for the family was rear-ended by a speeding car that had drifted out of its lane, forcing the stopped car into Anna and her mother. Anna died instantly. The car that caused the crash was driven by a distracted teen driver who was looking through a backpack, listening to loud music, and had other teen passengers in the car.
Soon after the crash, Anna's family knew that they had to find a way to help change people's perception of driving. We started the Anna Marie Brulotte Memorial site in the hopes of raising awareness of the growing problem of distracted, aggressive, and dangerous driving practices. We discovered that, sadly, Anna was not the only innocent victim. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration - NHTSA:
" In 2008, 5,870 people lost their lives and an estimated 515,000 people were injured in police-reported crashes in which at least one form of driver distraction was reported on the police crash report...While these numbers are significant, they may not state the true size of the problem, since the identification of distraction and its role in a crash can be very difficult to determine using only police-reported data."
